March 2026 Retrospective

    Preamble

The year is already a quarter over, can you believe? I'm back to being super busy, so a bit of a shorter post

    Personal achievements

    • Applied to the LOFAR station building project!

    Reading

    • NEW! Picked up "The Extra" by Annie Neugebauer. Loved the premise, the execution could've been better. As far as I know it's supposed to be the first in a series? Sort of a weak start imo
    • NEW! After getting a little disappointed by the above, I read "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell, or as you might know it, the precursor for John Carpenter's The Thing. It was pretty good (I'm a sucker for antarctic horror) but less impactfull than I anticipated. The suspense wasn't enough for me, it could've been more
    • Reread "If on a winter's night a traveller" by Italo Calvino to see if my years-long seething hatred of it was actually justified. Yup, sure was. This book sucks and doesn't like women. Perfect premise, absolute dogwater execution
    • Went back to rereading The Hitchhiker's Guide series, continuing with Restaurant at the End of the Universe, which is a strong contender for my favorite book in the whole series. I've decided that this time around I'll read all five books (plus some extras), gonna keep you posted on that

    Gaming

    • NEW! Started playing Tiny Aquarium, it's a cute little game about raising fish
    • NEW! Got the teensiest bit into Alice: Madness Returns but had to drop it because of irl obligations. Gorgeous game with a beautiful soundtrack tho! Definitely want to play more
    • Still playing Genshin Impact, Sky: Children of the Light, and My Singing Monsters

    Watching

    • NEW! A friend and I took advantage of a sale our local theater was having and went to see their production of Moby Dick! I literally just came home from the theater and it was wonderful, really well-done. The set was crazy good, with multiple moving platforms. They raised the ship up and down! And the actors' performances were perfect
    • NEW! Finally got the oportunity to watch the UK National Theatre's production of The Importance of being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. It was brilliant, so funny and the set design and costuming were gorgeous. I have the video saved, if anyone would like to have it!
    • Rewatched Monty Python and the Holy Grail for a bit of fun relaxation. Still good! Hopefully I'll manage to get around to watching their other stuff sometime

    Music

    • Nothing new here!

    Art and making

    • NEW! Got my hands on FL Studio and as a result, I've been messing around with it a bunch. I'm even partway through a project! More on that soon...

    Going forward

April is guaranteeing me spring break from uni, but also three very important exams, if not four... Putting my nose back to the grindstone!

That's all for now! See you next time! ☆
